According to WHO, in India, over 5 crores, people suffer from depression. Depression comes from chemical imbalances in the brain, hormonal changes, or things in our lives. For example, women suffer from depression twice as often as men. It affects that part of the brain associated with anger, sexual arousal, sorrows, fear, and pleasure.

Depression may happen after a significant change in life, such as the loss of a loved one. It affects you mentally and physically; erratic sleep habits, loss of appetite, muscle aches, headaches, back pain, irritability, excessive crying, etc. Depression doesn't kill you directly, but it increases the risk of suicide, heart disease, stroke, drug/alcohol abuse, and so on.

Usually, people don't talk much about this issue because they think no one will understand or others will make fun of them (speaking from personal experience). However, hiding it is not a solution. A person must need treatment, or they can cure themselves by doing daily exercises or medication, eat a healthy diet, avoid drugs or alcohol, get some sunlight, stay connected with society, share your problems whom you trust, get some time for yourself at least 15 minutes daily and if you still not overcome from depression then consult a specialist.

I hope this article will bring some awareness and I'm glad to help someone or somebody by writing this.
