Des Vu by Swapna Sanchita

Book Review -

Des Vu is the debut poetry book written by Swapna Sanchita. This volume is a compilation of forty-two poems adorned with creative illustrations. The author said she tried to come out of her comfort zone and let the readers in by publishing this book.

Her work aims to help you resonate with poems and let you sink in the feeling of I hear what you're saying. The beautiful thing about hymns is that they don't need to flow in a particular set of lines; all they have to do is touch the reader's heart. If you have followed me for a long time, you know how enormously I appreciate poets.

Most of the time, I think about the underlying meaning of poems, but "must poetry always have meaning?" The first line of the first poem, named Poetry, made me re-think the whole process. It instantly became one of my favorite poems from this book.

Apart from this, the poems hold the structure of our daily life and the simplicity of existence. I also like the poem, What a Woman Wants; this is a subject that is too confusing for many people, but I appreciate how Swapna Sanchita defined this complex matter with her artistic expressions. If you're looking for a fast-paced short read, then this book is for you.
