Arjuna by Dhanika Sharma

Book Review -

Arjuna by Dhanika Sharma is a re-telling of Mahabharata, an Indian saga from Arjuna's point of view (one of the Pandav brothers and a great archer/warrior).

After his death, he finds himself in a dark pit instead of heaven and ponders why he is not with his family or at peace. What wrong things did he do to earn this darkness?

He fought wars, killed millions, including his kins, avenged his wife, and followed the commands of Lord Krishna, elder brother Yudhisthira, and his mother all his life. But deep in his heart, he questions their judgments and pivots between dharma (righteousness) and adharma (immorality).

This contemporary tale provides a diverse and exceptional perspective about the main characters of Mahabharata. It is like profiling each personality and their behaviors, according to Arjuna.

Although the Mahabharata tale is a legend and filled with many characters, Dhanika Sharma tried her best to sum up the famous ones or the ones who had the power to change the course of history.

I'm a fan of Mahabharata and already knew the stories, but the way the author narrates it from Arjuna's stance was new to me, and I admire that.

This book is indeed a good read if you're into this subject. However, if you're a beginner and don't know much about Mahabharata, you should certainly pick this book.
