Empire: Country by Tim Goff

Book Review -

Country is the first part of the Empire series written by Tim Goff. It is a thrilling fantasy novel that follows the journey of Tia Samos of Equitant as she travels to Cosslet Barony under the pretext of seeking investment opportunities, but her real aim is to find a suitable husband.

However, she quickly discovers that Barony is plagued by a deadly beast that terrorizes the impoverished populace. Tia finds herself searching for the beast alongside Ian Cortez, the handsome Baron of Cosslet, and his bastard brother Sir Peter.

As they work together to solve the mystery of the beast, Tia and the others uncover secrets and opportunities that threaten to change their lives forever. The characters are well-developed, and the plot is engaging, but I don't particularly appreciate how Tia and Celina behaved with Kyle. They are snobbish and need to learn some manners.

One of the standout elements of this book is world-building. The Solarian Empire is richly described, with a history of demon conquests and a society divided between aristocrats and commoners. In addition, the descriptions of the landscapes and cities are vivid and immersive, making the world of the book feel fully realized.

Overall, it is a must-read for fans of fantasy and adventure, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series; and would love to know more about Silam, the sorcerer, and Sister Miriam.
