Interview with Aditya Nighhot

Q.1 Tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know?
A. I enjoy watching movies and analyzing each and every aspect of filmmaking. One can call me a movie buff. Love to tune into some melodious music in the free time.

Q.2 How many unpublished and half-finished book do you have?
A. Currently, I have one book unpublished and I am working on two more.

Q.3 Where do you get your ideas?
A. Stories aren’t to be created. I keep my eyes open and I find that this world is full of stories. I find them in people around me.

Q.4 What advice do you have for writers?
A. Keep writing and never give up. Even the best of the writers didn’t achieve success in one go. It took them years.

Q.5 Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
A. I try to be original and realistic.

Q.6 If you could tell your younger writing self-anything, what would it be?
A. Keep writing, keep making mistakes, and keep learning from the mistakes.

Q.7 What are the most important magazines or websites for writers to subscribe to?
A. I’d suggest follow the topmost bloggers and subscribe to the publishing houses websites if there is an option.

Q.8 What is the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
A. To be honest, I really don’t face difficulties in writing any character. I can very well get into any character and be himself/herself for the time being.

Q.9 How do you select the names of your characters?
A. Till now I have used my friends’ names.

Q.10 Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
A. Yes, I do! A good review motivates you and a bad one teaches you something. It’s that simple.

Q.11 Does your family support your career as a writer?
A. Of course! Without their support, this would have been impossible.

Q.12 What do your fans mean to you?
A. Everything. Readers make writers, writers don’t make readers.

Q.13 How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
A. I have written two books. One was not published on a large scale. Until Love Sets Us Apart is my current favorite.

Q.14 Do you have any unique and quirky writing habits?
A. I consume a lot of caffeine. It stimulates my brain and yes, I tune in to some music and lock myself in the room to get into the character.

Q.15 What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
A. Nothing! If I consider something to be the best, then I am becoming complacent and then there wouldn’t be any margin for improvement left.

Q.16 What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?
A. There’s nothing unethical as such. Unfair would be a better word for good self-published books unable to get offline reach and a wider visibility.

Q.17 Who edited your book and how did you select him/her?
A. Mrs. Vidya Sury. Fingerprint introduced me to her.

Q.18 Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?
A. The Bachchans! They have always been my favorites.

Ans. I can’t name one, but The Alchemist is quite inspiring.
