Interview with Archana Abhishek

Q.1 Tell us a little about yourself?
A. I am a content writer, blogger, and a first-time author. Based out of Hyderabad, I have worked in Corporates for 17 years, and now taken up my passion for writing as my profession. I envision inspiring, educating, and empowering hearts and minds by penning down my thoughts, opinions, and emotions.

Q.2 Do you have any upcoming books?
A. Yes. My upcoming book again reflects the struggles, inhibitions, and emotional turmoil a woman goes through in a marriage. And that a woman beholds immense strength, and power within which enables her journey, and fuels her spirits to fight any failure, criticism or loneliness.

Q.3 How did you get the idea to write I Hope We Meet Again?
A. It’s my personal experience and observation of how a failed relationship can break hearts and shatter spirits. How girls lose the joy of life and take it as the end of the road. I wish to encourage and empower the souls experiencing this pain and help them unravel the painful knots and start opening the wings to fly again.

Q.4 Do you hide any secrets in your book that only a few people will find?
A. Yes. A few instances are real-life incidents.

Q.5 What is the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
A. Writing characters of the opposite sex can get demanding when you are trying to sketch their inner beliefs, and habits especially the darker side.

Q.6 Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
A. I only hope to let my dear readers know that life is beautiful only if we wish to see it that way. No single relation defines or confines us. No one knows you and likes you more than yourself. Love yourself and stop counting on others for love and warmth.

Q.7 How do you develop your plots and characters? Do you use any set formula?
A. There is no formula. I write from my heart and choose to reach my reader's heart.

Q.8 In your opinion, what’s the recipe for an irresistible love story?
A. Get your characters dreamy, yet realistic so the audience can identify them. Draft a plot picking events around you. Since they are real, there are probabilities your audience can connect to them. Have a little dose of romance, heart-touching sentiments, and a powerful ending.

Q.9 Where do you hope to take your writing in the future?
A. I hope to continue writing books and get as creative and unique as possible, and touch many more hearts in the future.

Q.10 Does your family support your career as a writer?
A. Absolutely. My mother has been my inspiration, and husband my support. They appreciate my thoughts and are very happy and proud of my achievements.

Q.11 Do you believe in writer’s block? If yes, how do you deal with it?
A. Yes. I am not sure about other writers, but I do come across stages where I fall short of creative ideas and concepts. All I do is take a break maybe a few hours or sometimes even a day. Thinking with a relaxed mind and keenly observing surroundings helps.

Q.12 How do you deal with the emotional impact of a book (on yourself) as you are writing the story?
A. Writing a book may revive many dark and deep emotions. It may also involve voicing out opinions and thoughts which have always been unspoken. But I feel happy to get the opportunity to share these thoughts through the medium of writing.

Q.13 Do you have any unique and quirky writing habits?
A. I take help from witty quotes and poems which have been instrumental and influential in my writing style.

Q.14 What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?
A. I guess am too inexperienced to comment on that.

Q.15 What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
A. Don’t hold back and don’t hesitate. Scribble whatever you have in mind, and edit later. It sounds to be an impossible task in the beginning, but as you start you would enjoy it.

Q.16 If you could invite one person to dinner, who would it be and what would you cook?
A. I would invite myself and my husband for a sumptuous dinner and get food from my favorite food joint. That gives me rest and amazing food too.

Q.17 Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?
A. I would like to meet Princess of Wales, Diana who has always fascinated and mesmerized me with her beauty, grace, and poise. Her golden heart and free spirit with the urge to contribute to the world had always inspired and captivated me.

Q.18 What is your favorite book and why?
A. My favorite books include – The God Father by Mario Puzo, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown for their unmatchable imagination, exceptional storytelling skills, and impeccable writing techniques. Another book I adore is The Evolution of God by Ajay Kansal for its scientific, and eye opening approach.

Q.19 Share the experience of your journey so far?
A. I have had an amazing experience all through my corporate and writing stint. It’s been joyful and full of learning as writing my book had been joyful and content writing and blogging had been full of knowledge.
