Q.1 Please introduce yourself - Where are you from? How long have
you been blogging? What’s the name of your blog? What made you decide to start
a book blog?
A. Hello! I am Meghaa, from Chennai, but
my native is Kerala. I have been blogging for the past year. My blog’s name
is writterbuddie. From my childhood
days, I loved reading, be it Malayalam kids comics to Tinkle and my favorite
Nancy Drew books in school.
During my college days, I lost touch
with reading and felt like I missed the joy of reading, and being transported to
some other parallel world inside my head. After finishing college, it was back
to books and me. That's when I thought of putting up reviews and ended up
starting my blog. The sole aim was to get in touch with fellow readers, know
their views and book suggestions.
Q.2 What is your favorite genre and book?
A. My favorite genre is Non-fiction of
course. I like Young Adult books and of course, Fiction too. My favorite genres
in fiction are mystery, thrillers, and psychology-related reads. I don't think
I can name one favorite book, but then How
to Kill a Mockingbird had a long-lasting effect on me, and maybe, yes that's
my favorite book.
Q.3 What one piece of advice do you wish you’d had when you first
started book blogging?
A. I wish someone had told me not to put
up to content just for the sake of likes and followers (because that's what I have
been seeing everywhere on social media, lately), that quality of your content
matters more.
Q.4 What piece of advice would you like to give to other bloggers?
A. First of all, be honest about your
views. Don't review for money, instead be genuine because there are people out
there who might get recommendations from your profile and those recommendations
must be worth their time and money.
Q.5 How many books are actually on your bookshelf/shelves right
now?
A. Around 100.
Q.6 If you could be a character from a book for just one day who
would you be and why?
A. That would definitely be Holly from
PS I Love You! Yes, since I loved the way the author portrayed her journey from
a heartbroken woman, picking the broken pieces in her life to the smart,
successful role model she turns to be, with the past, still afresh in her mind.
Q.7 Is blogging your profession or just a hobby? Does your family
support you? What’s their take on this?
A. Blogging is my hobby and I do it out
of my love for books. My family wholeheartedly supports me. They know I am an avid reader, and they are okay with me blogging as far as I actively engage in
household-related stuff and family functions as well (not to forget my job as a
Technical Writer though).
Q.8 What do you think is the best strategy for getting more
visitors to a blog?
A. Engage with fellow bloggers, get to
know the tastes of your subscribers, and put up the content accordingly. Be
authentic and actively engage with your audience.
Q.9 What are the top 3 characteristics you look for in a good
book?
A. Style of writing, character development, and editing. These three are of utmost need for a book to be well received and meaningful.
Q.10 What are your favorite Instagram/Bookstagram/Booktuber
accounts?
A. There are many. My favorites are Harshita from Stunning Bookworm and Simrin from SimrinKapoor95.
