Q.1 Please introduce yourself - Where are you from? How long have you been blogging? What’s the name of your blog? What made you decide to start a book blog?
A.
Hello, I am Sameeksha Manerkar, a second-year literature student. It's been 2 years of blogging which still feels like yesterday. My reading journey started after my 10th board exams. I used to read books my sister would gift me, mainly Preeti Shenoy, Ravinder Singh, Sudeep Nagarkar’s romance books, but then I came across a post with #bookstagram tag, and then I checked it, explored new book recommendations.

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella was the first book I read because of bookstagram. And I was fascinated by checking so many readers talking about books, which is how I decided to start my book blogging account.

Q.2 What is your favorite genre and book?
A.
Romance and Historical Fiction are my most favorite genre for sure. And my favorite books are A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, The Sehgal Saga by Sapna Bhog, The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman, The Kapoor Brothers by Shilpa Suraj. There are so many more, but these are the top favorites.

Q.3 What one piece of advice do you wish you’d had when you first started book blogging?
A.
Don't get upset seeing readers receive and review the latest books. Don’t feel disheartened if you don't get books from renowned publishers. And also, please don't feel the pressure of number games.

Q.4 What piece of advice you would like to give to other bloggers?
A.
Read what you love, don't think about underrated or overrated books criteria. Also, as a blogger, it is essential to try your best to promote the books in as many ways as you can.

Q.5 How many books are actually on your bookshelf/shelves right now?
A.
Currently 500+ and a few packed in boxes, my sister says that we will soon need a different room to keep these books.

Q.6 If you could be a character from a book for just one day, who would you be and why?
A.
I would be Nina from The Bookish Life of Nina Hill to live my dream life of working in a library surrounded by books.

Q.7 Is blogging your profession or just a hobby? Does your family support you? What’s their take on this?
A.
Blogging is my hobby turned into a profession. For me, it's not just about reading books but also marketing them. I love to make an impact on the books through my blogs.

My family is extremely supportive; they just love to see how my work is making me happy. And my dad is a reader himself, so he understands how much I love reading and sends me recommendations he comes across through newspapers.

Q.8 What do you think is the best strategy for getting more visitors to a blog?
A.
Be authentic, be honest, and write from the audience's point of view as if you are speaking to them personally. Also, always keep quality over quantity.

Q.9 What are the top 3 characteristics you look for in a good book?
A.
Firstly mysterious, and the intriguing storyline is significant. Second is good character development, and thirdly, error-free and well-researched content.

Q.10 What are your favorite Instagram/Bookstagram/Booktuber accounts?
A.
There are so many, but my top favorites are @read.dream.repeat @she_of_hr @pentastic__ @authoravisek @booksn_stuff @reader_sm @bookoholicsbookclub @book.anatomy @thequirkyreader.
