Q.1 Please introduce yourself - Where
are you from? How long have you been blogging? What’s the name of your blog?
What made you decide to start a book blog?
A. I belong to Lucknow, but I have lived across India so
identifying a city with me becomes a difficult task. I’ve been
blogging for almost 11 months now. My blog name is Bookworm’s Reviews.
I was always
interested in reading and a lot of my friends take my opinion and ask for book
recommendations. That was a thought that slowly developed into this blog that
you see now. I also wanted to try new books and review projects to help me broaden
my reading horizon as well.
Q.2 What is your favorite genre and
book?
A. This is one of the toughest questions that anybody can
ask me, and I have no specific book that stands out. Among the latest books
that I have read, You Beneath Your Skin by Damyanti Biswas in Fiction, and Fluid
by Ashish Jaiswal in Non-Fiction did stand out. An all-time favorite
is the Harry Potter series, and that is one book that’ll always stay in that
position for me.
Q.3 What one piece of advice do you
wish you’d had when you first started book blogging?
A. One piece of advice I would have really appreciated was that
book blogging will take time to gather viewers, and followers, and that it’ll be
quite hectic at times.
Q.4 What piece of advice you would
like to give to other bloggers?
A. To other book bloggers, I would like to say that you
should try to be authentic and give your honest opinion about the book. Also,
prepare a standard guideline that you’ll never violate, and you can be very
clear while applying for reviews.
Q.5 How many books are actually on
your bookshelf/shelves right now?
A. Hard to pinpoint the exact number, but I think the number would be around 600-800.
Q.6 If you could be a character from
a book for just one day who would you be and why?
A. Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter for her sheet
wit, confidence, and amazing sarcasm.
Q.7 Is blogging your profession or
just a hobby? Does your family support you? What’s their take on this?
A. Blogging is a hobby that I pursue along with my
studies.
My family is
quite supportive of my blogging, and it is because of their support that I have
developed this love for reading. They like
the fact that I have a constructive hobby, and that I am doing what I love.
Q.8 What do you think is the best
strategy for getting more visitors to a blog?
A. Good Content is the best way to draw attention to a
blog. Also, keep the blog as the primary location for the review. Other
platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. should redirect to the
blog. This helps a lot in aggregating all the viewers to one location.
Q.9 What are the top 3
characteristics you look for in a good book?
A. For a book to be
considered as good, it should have a good and engaging plot, it has to be
grammatically correct, and the characters should be well defined. Even if one of the
3 is missing, the book loses its flavor.
Q.10 What are your favorite Instagram/Bookstagram/Booktuber
accounts?
A. @shreya.booked for some amazing
recommendations, @booksandbeard for some well-crafted
reviews, @bookscharming for beautifully
clicked photos, and well-crafted reviews.
