Please introduce yourself - Where are you from? How long have you been
blogging? What’s the name of your blog? What made you decide to start a book
blog?
A. Hey Aakanksha! Sunny this side, all the way from Delhi. Well, as far as blogging is concerned, my WordPress blog is close to two years
old, and my Instagram page is just a month and four days old (I started it quite
late, my bad!).
My blog name is Jupiter's Solo Bibliophile (I kept this
name as my parents called me a resident of Jupiter when I was a toddler!). I
decided to start a book blog as I had some books sitting idle in my almirah, so I planned to review them, and thus, my blog was born.

What is your favorite genre and book?
A. My favorite genre is Romance, and the tagline of my
blog justifies it (A die-hard lover of books. A
romantic novel buff.) I don't know why, but I find myself more attracted to romance
novels. But I also love other genres as well!
A favorite book of
mine is Looking For Alaska by John Green. Because it has every single thing we
reviewers wish to see in a book - romance, comedy, suspense, tragedy. And also
because I found it so easy to comprehend. It is the best read for me till now.

What one piece of advice do you wish you’d had when you first started book blogging?
A. I wish someone had told me to make an Instagram page as
soon as I began book blogging. I made it last month only, so I’m really late on
Instagram. Another thing I wish to have known is that you have to
don’t sit in this expectation of getting review copies as soon as you start
your book blogging journey.

What piece of advice you would like to give to other bloggers?
A. Fellow bloggers, you have to constantly post reviews, and read more books to enhance your vocabulary, and to get inspired by writers.
Maybe who knows, you are an author in making. Plus, if you don’t like a book, say it in some good words.
Don’t sound harsh or rude to the author, and the publishing company. The author
wouldn’t mind your review at all, but he/she will get upset, and demotivated by
your harsh words.

How many books are actually on your bookshelf/shelves right now?
A. I don’t exactly know how much I have, but a rough estimate
is of close to 80 books. I maybe get wrong, but I think I have 80 books!

If you could be a character from a book for just one day who would you be and
why?
A. It has to be Miles Halter from
Looking For Alaska because I want to experience some boarding school fun, do
some serious pranks on seniors, enjoy learning the last words of famous people and
love a girl like Alaska.

Is blogging your profession or just a hobby? Does your family support you?
What’s their take on this?
A. Right now, blogging is a hobby for me. Maybe sometime
shortly, I can make it a profession. Well, my family does support me, and my blogging. They are comfortable with me doing book blogging. No issues
from their side, just a small request. They are like, “Okay, post your reviews.
But do charge for reviewing!”

What do you think is the best strategy for getting more visitors to a blog?
A. According to me, it will be the presentation of your
blog. A simple, yet beautiful blog, free of too much clutter, will lead to more
visitors on your blog.

What are the top 3 characteristics you look for in a good book?
A. Well, a beautiful cover, emotional connection
with the reader, and an engaging book plot/synopsis.

What are your favorite Instagram/Bookstagram/Booktuber accounts?
A. Favourite Instagram accounts are @thejournalofareader_, @emptyhouseofliterature, @james_trevino, @paperbacksandpen, and @elizabeth_sagan.
These people have really beautiful IG pages, and I’m actually jealous of their
pages. They are so amazing book bloggers!

For readers, I have to say that keep
reading and don’t stop. Inspire yourself with books and maybe one day, you will
become an author. Keep writing, even if it is a quote or a short story. You
will slowly get into the habit of writing and try to share your writings with
your friends, and get to know where you are lagging behind. Improvement is the
basic key to success and this sits well with writing. Don’t stop writing even
for a day. Improving writing will lead to success for you as a writer.
