Q.1 Tell us a little about yourself?
Perhaps something not many people know?
A. In
today’s time, it’s difficult to say things about yourself, which others already
don’t know. Thanks to social media. However, I believe what many people (even
some of my own) don’t know is that I am an utterly stubborn, headstrong, and strong-willed girl. If I am truly passionate about something, there’s
absolutely nothing or nobody that can stop me from pursuing it.
Q.2 Are we going
to read more from you in the near future? Any new project you’re working on?
A. Definitely. I keep writing. So, you should expect
more books from me in the future. However, how soon that would happen is not
known to me. I am working
on the plot of my next novel. And, this time it wouldn’t be a novella. I would
write a longer story. And, definitely a thriller.
Q.3 Where do you get
your ideas?
A. I like to
observe people, their expressions, and emotions. I believe that I can gauge
their personality pretty well. It often helps me get unique ideas. Also, you
would notice (if you read my novel) that I love to dive deep into human emotions
and feelings. That’s my shtick.
Q.4 What advice do
you have for writers?
A. Don’t
look for advice, and follow them blindly. Listen to your heart, make your own
rules, and try hard to adhere to them. Build your own writing style.
Q.5 Do you try
more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
A. I want my
readers to be happy, entertained, and intrigued. But that, in no way, means
that I’d write what others believe in. I write words that I believe they need
to read, hear and realize.
Q.6 If you could
tell your younger writing self-anything, what would it be?
A. It’s okay
if some people don’t realize the value of your passion. It’s okay if they laugh
it off. Stick to it. You’ll get your reward eventually.
Q.7 What are the
most important magazines or websites for writers to subscribe to?
A. I don’t
have much knowledge about this. However, I would say in order to build a reader
base, create your own blog, write regularly, and interact with other writers.
WordPress is a good option.
Q.8 What is the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
A. Well,
since I have done that in my first novel itself, I know how tough it is. Read
novels, watch movies, interact with many people of the opposite sex. Try to
understand their personalities, mentalities, and way of talking. Then take the
plunge.
Q.9 How do you
select the names of your characters?
A. I love
this part of the whole writing process. I spend a lot of time in selecting the
names. According to me, they must be unique and spur instant emotions in the
readers’ minds.
Q.10 Do
you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
A. I do.
Because they excite me. I like to know how well others analyze my work. Good
ones make my day. And, bad ones make me patient.
Q.11 Does
your family supports your career as a writer?
A. A lot.
They are always there by my side. They are as excited as I am now that my first
book is published.
Q.12 Do
you believe in writer’s block?
A. No. I
believe in not giving it much importance. I write every day. Even on days when I
am very tired, stressed and unhappy. Stop talking about it. Focus on writing
instead.
Q.13 How
many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
A. This is
my debut novel. However, I have written some short stories (free eBooks) on
Juggernaut. They got a lot of love, recognition, and support from my readers. I
believe Done With Her is my favorite because it’s special in many ways.
Q.14 Do
you have any unique and quirky writing habits?
A. I think I
am a bit too crazy when it comes to writing. I can forget about the entire
world around me when I am doing it. It gets the better of me at times.
Q.15 What
do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
A. Pushing
myself out of my comfort zone.
Q.16 What
is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?
A. I haven’t
come across any as of yet.
Q.17 Who
edited your book and how did you select him/her?
A. I asked
my friend who happens to be a teacher by profession to review my book. She took
care of the editing and proofreading part.
Q.18 Which
famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?
A. I wish I
could meet Agatha Christie. I am a huge fan of her. I keep reading her
detective stories. She’s my inspiration.
Q.19 What
is your favorite book and why?
A. Crooked
House by Agatha Christie. Do I really need to say why? It’s mind-blowing. Lucid Dream 1 by Swati Singla. I read this book during my college days. Trust me, it still
casts a magic spell on me every time I think of the male protagonist.
Q.20 Share
the experience of your journey so far?
A. This is
the best journey I have ever taken. It’s frustrating at times, yes, but it
gives me immense happiness to introduce myself as a writer. Honestly, I don’t
think about the destination. The journey is what matters.
