He is India’s only real action thriller novelist. His books are fast and feature high-octane adventure with a dash of history. He has won several awards, the most recent being the Global Book Awards Bronze in the Action & Adventure category for Trigger Point. His next book continues the adventures of Syrian rebel, Aslan ‘The Lion’ Terzi. After that, is an exciting series with an Indian hero.
Q.1 Tell us a little about yourself not many people know?
A. I played guitar and sang in a rock n roll band comprised largely of doctors and entrepreneurs. Then I decided to focus on my books. I do play as a hobby now.
Q.2 When should we expect your next book? What will it be about?
A. My next book is Lion: Most Wanted. It is Book 2 in the critically acclaimed Escape series.
Q.3 What made you write A Luc Fortesque Adventure Series?
A. I was tossing ideas around for my fifth novel. After several drafts, I realized the character of Luc Fortesque fit into the story arc. The problem was: Luc Fortesque was not the good guy in The Apocalypse Trigger. Then came the revelation: but I could make it about his redemption. By the end of The Immortality Trigger, I already knew that the third book would see Fortesque facing off impossible odds. That was the genesis for Trigger Point.
Q.4 Were there any obstacles you faced while writing this series?
A. Luc Fortesque has a hazy past. As I mentioned, the first story didn’t make him the reader’s favorite. How to reconcile that… it was tough, but I think readers like the evolution.
Q.5 What’s the most challenging part about writing an action thriller as opposed to any other genre?
A. I’ve never tried another genre, so I can’t compare. Let me say this: my brand of thrillers, I do my best to get facts and plausibility straight. Also, I’m dealing with contemporary events and often the dates don’t line up. I’m always asking myself: How much can I stretch this to believe the story could happen? So: getting my backdrop right, that’s the tough part.
Q.6 Why should other writers want to write a thriller?
A. Escapism.
Q.7 What is the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
A. I convey gender equality. My female leads are as badass as my male leads! They don’t need to be protected.
Q.8 How do you develop your plots and characters? Do you use any set formula?
A. I’m very organic. Recently, working on my next series, I’ve started planning more. Usually, it starts with a theme that interests me. Then I look for incidents on that theme and locations that I’d like to feature. I weave the story around that. I like garnishing it with history.
Q.9 How do you select the name of your characters?
A. I look for indigenous names and meanings. Sometimes, it just needs to sound good.
Q.10 How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?
A. Trigger Point is the 8th. I’ve got 5 more in various stages of development. I like Spectre (Book #3 in the Kirk Ingram series). I think Indian readers will enjoy my next series, featuring an Indian para soldier.
Q.11 Outside of your family members, name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author?
A. A trio of engineering friends.
Q.12 Do you believe in writer’s block? If yes, how do you deal with it?
A. Writer’s block, to me, means slow down, wait for the story. I don’t fight it.
Q.13 What were the most surprising things you learned while writing your books?
A. Beauty products are part of a billion-dollar immortality industry. There are companies that can already cryopreserve you for a reasonable fee.
Q.14 Do you have any unique and quirky writing habits?
A. None that I’m aware of.
Q.15 Imagine a future where you no longer write. What would you do?
A. Read more. Play more guitar.

A. Thrills, Global plots, and Education.
Q.17 What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
A. Keep writing the next book.

A. Jon Bon Jovi, Brad Paisley, Bryan Adams, Matthew Reilly, Mark Greaney. To say, ‘I love the stuff you do.’
Q.19 What is your favorite book and why?
A. There are so many that are favorites for different reasons. I think there’s always something an author can learn from reading.

A. It has ups and downs. What matters is staying the course. Don’t mind the criticism. Enjoy the accolades.
