He is a life-long learner with a passion for writing and is the author of the Earth Has Fallen series. After a childhood filled with reading books by Tolkien, Hubbard, Greenwood, Matheson, and Salvatore, Servidio has brought his imagination to life in his writings. His interests range from post-apocalyptic and dystopian worlds to dabbling in crime novels and the metaphysical.
Having earned his doctorate from St. Thomas University, Servidio works as a College and Correspondence Coordinator for the Maine Department of Corrections as well as teachers part-time at the University of Maine at Augusta. Q.1 Tell us something about yourself not many people know?
A. I love to collect medieval weapons and clowns.
Q.2 Are we going to read more from you in the near future? Any new project you’re working on?
A. Yes. I am currently working on my second post-Apocalyptic series entitled the Agents of Tomorrow. Book 1 The Deliverance has been completed and released a few days ago. Book 2 Into Nothingness will be set for release on Feb. 25, 2022.
Q.3 What inspired you to write the Agents of Tomorrow series?
A. I had such a good time writing the Earth Has Fallen series, I wanted to follow it up with a second post-apocalyptic series with the world ending in a different way.
Q.4 What is the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
A. The most difficult part of writing characters from the opposite sex is getting into the right mindset. Thankfully, I have a wife and three daughters who are only too eager to help me find the right voice.
Q.5 How do you develop your plots and characters? Do you use any set formula?
A. I started out as a pantser; however, as I have continued to write, I have found myself outlining more of a backstory for each of my characters and setting up a general plotline for each book/series.
Q.6 How do you see the future of science fiction literature? Will sci-fi maintain its independence or intertwine with other literary genres?
A. I believe that the realm of science fiction literature will maintain its independence. Why ruin a good thing, right?
Q.7 How do you see the relationship between science fiction and culture? How about the boundaries between science fiction and reality?
A. The line between science fiction that I right and our culture and reality have been blurred significantly with the insertion of COVID. They say reality is stranger than fiction, and I believe we are living it today.
Q.8 To what extent can science fiction effect or improve the developments in science and technology in human life? Is it right to say that science fiction can change what human life looks like in the future?
A. I believe that science fiction writers have the ability to take the real and the fantastical and merge them together to create unlimited possibilities. Most definitely, science fiction can change what human life looks like in the future.
Q.9 Is classic science fiction literature different from modern science fiction literature? Have the key aims of the genre changed considerably or not?
A. I do not believe the key aims of the genre have changed much. As a group, looking into the future and seeing how things “can be” drives the writing.
Q.10 What do you think are the main reasons for the popularity of science fiction? To what extent has the film industry helped in popularizing the genre?
A. Science fiction is the ultimate escape from reality for readers. You can become a wizard, a hero, a scientist, or any other being you want to be for a time. Reality is hard enough for many of us, it is good to getaway.
Q.11 For long, humans have been looking for immortality at all costs. Do you think this will lead to our eventual dehumanization?
A. Not for all, but for some. We are all products of environments.
Q.12 Science fiction has a long history. Which era do you consider the most influential period in the whole history of the genre?
A. For me, I would have to pick the 1980’s as I truly enjoyed the rise of Cyberpunk. As for the most influential era, it must be the 19th century with the rise of Wells and Verne.
Q.13 If your book was made into the movie, whom would you like to play the role of Joshua Miller?
A. I think I would like to see Justin Timberlake take on the lead role.
Q.14 How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?
A. I started writing about 6 months ago and have written about 20 books (10 fiction and 10 nonfiction). It is hard to pick a favorite since each has its own high points. If I had to narrow it down, I would choose either the Earth Has Fallen series, Without Conscience, or Souls to Keep.
Q.15 Do you have any unique and quirky writing habits?
A. I don’t know if it is quirky, but I write a majority of my stories on my phone.
Q.16 How do you select the name of your characters?
A. I try to think of unique names based on the story and the setting. Sometimes I even use a name generator if I get stuck.
Q.17 What do you want readers to take away from your books?
A. Enjoyment. I hope that readers can escape from their everyday lives and just have some fun.
Q.18 Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?
A. I would love to sit down and talk with Tolkien about a deceased person. His world-creating ability is unmatched. For someone that is still alive, I would love to speak with either R.A. Salvatore or Stephen King.

A. As of today, it is Later by Stephen King. I love how he weaves the supernatural so seamlessly into his writing.

A. So far I have just been enjoying the ride. I am enjoying writing and learning all the ins and outs of the industry including sales and marketing.
