Q.1 Tell us a little about yourself?
A. Well, I’m alive… for now. I
started out being born and then I didn’t know what happened and all the sudden,
I’m here. I love everything to do with my family and spending time together.
Q.2 Do you have any upcoming books?
A. I have another series that will
be coming out in a month or so. It has a different style to it and is called
Crystal Shadows, Gripping New Blood. I have also a religious book almost done
and the sequel to Requiem will be coming out in a year.
Q.3 When and why did you begin
writing?
A. I was challenged by a teacher to
join a writing contest. I first didn’t think much about it but found out
from others that they liked it. I was hooked from then on.
Q.4 How do you develop your plots and
characters? Do you use any set formula?
A. I had the basic story in mind, but
I began to look at the formulas of different writers I liked. I learned as much
as I could and strived to add my own style.
Q.5 How do you select the name of
your characters?
A. I would break down the character
in my mind and then say random names that might fit them. Then I would see how
they would work together. Such as a parent naming their children with similar styles.
Q.6 Who designed your book covers?
A. The most wonderful publisher,
Olympia Publishing. They took suggestions and we worked it out together.
Q.7 What is the most difficult thing
about writing characters from the opposite sex?
A. It was so much fun to write from
the perspective of the opposite sex. What made it difficult was to think of
what was important to them and write out what would be in that character’s
mind.
Q.8 Where do you hope to take your
writing in the future?
A. I hope to keep writing for the
rest of my life and expand into more fantastic universes. Since the only limit
in writing is me, I hope to keep pushing myself in telling more stories.
Q.9 Does your family support your
career as a writer?
A. No one has tried to stop me yet.
Q.10 Outside of your family members,
name one entity that supported your commitment to become a published author?
A. I was urged by a teacher to enter
a writing contest in school. I won an award and learned I loved telling stories.
Q.11 To craft your works, do you have
to travel? Before or during the process?
A. I believe travel does help.
Expanding one’s perspective also expands one’s ability to write. The more one
knows and has seen the more realistic opportunity they can add to the story.
Q.12 Do you believe in writer’s
block? If yes, how do you deal with it?
A. No, I don’t. I know what I wish to
say in the story, the difficulty is what is the best way to do it. I sometimes
think that I didn’t like a part of the story. If it isn’t working, I keep going
over it until I find out what does.
Q.13 Imagine a future where you no
longer write. What would you do?
A. Rule the world…
Q.14 Do you have any unique and
quirky writing habits?
A. I was born with a little voice that,
too often, makes it past my filter. That voice just pops up and makes me laugh.
In writing, when that voice speaks, I listen.
Q.15 If you had to do it all over
again, would you change anything in your book?
A. Nope. This one is a good beginning
to many more.
Q.16 What is the most unethical
practice in the publishing industry?
A. I can only compare it keeping at
it. I would write and have some who would be interested in it. It would take
months sometimes a year to wait for them to get back with me. Then they would
turn me down, some without an explanation. I just had to keep going until I got
a yes.
Q.17 What advice do you have for
aspiring authors?
A. Find out what works for you and
keep at it. If you want to write, give it a try, and change what is needed until
you get a yes.
Q.18 Which famous person, living or
dead would you like to meet and why?
A. George Lucas. He was able to tell
a story that changes the world and fought for it at great personal cost. That is
inspiring to me.
Q.19 What is your favorite book and
why?
A. I don’t have one favorite book.
There are so many that are great in their own way. Like The Lord of the Rings,
The Alchemist, Harry Potter, and more.
Q.20 Share the experience of your
journey so far?
A. I had an accident which left me
disabled. After some wonderful doctors and some not so wonderful, I got some of
my health back. It has taken me years to recover the ability to do some very
basic tasks for others. Some of the time I felt like all I was doing was taking
air from other people. Only time will tell from a point of view if writing has
changed that.
