She was born in Northern California. She is a Wife, mother to three amazing children, and author of fantasy and adventure. Brings adventure with a mix of fantasy to the pages. Samantha is also an Advocate for people who have Russel Silver Syndrome, a rare genetic syndrome that her son Joshua was diagnosed with in December 2017 when he was 11 months old. Meaning he will be small for the rest of his life.
Q.1 Tell us something about yourself not many people know?
A. I am a major sucker for historical romance movies and shows, like watching Outlander.
Q.2 Do you have any upcoming books?
A. Since finishing writing my series, I have written one book, and it is with my editor. Yes, it is fantasy and something different. But it is going to be worth the wait!
Q.3 When did you decide to write The Land of the Four series?
A. It was all from a dream I had. Waking up, and then I wrote the first book, Ella. Then over time, I wanted to tell a story. It took until Summer 2020, when I wanted to write the final book and conclude it.
Q.4 How do you come up with the name of your books?
A. It is all based on the theme of the book.
Q.5 If you could tell your younger writing self-anything, what would it be?
A. That storytelling is what I do, and I am going to continue on doing it.
Q.6 How do you select the name of your characters?
A. It is just unique names that come to my mind.
Q.7 How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?
A. I have written four novels and one novella. Ella is the first book and my baby. It took me a long time to make it where it is at.
Q.8 How long does it take you to write a book?
A. A couple of months.
Q.9 What were your feelings when your novel was accepted/when you first saw the cover of the finished product?
A. That it was real, and that I wrote a story. Created my own world. It felt refreshing.
Q.10 What is one stereotype about fantasy writers is absolutely wrong? What one stereotype is dead on?
A. Something personally I have seen is where the man and woman live happily ever after. That it does take time to get over so many hurdles.
Q.11 Do you have any unique and quirky writing habits?
A. When I have an idea for a story, then I write it down. Like I type it or write it down in a notebook.
Q.12 Do you believe in writer’s block? If yes, how do you deal with it?
A. It can happen. I try and not have it happen to me. I just look at ideas and think about them. The last thing I wanted was to have writer’s block from what I have heard from other authors that it is not fun.
Q.13 If you could be a member of any fantasy race, which would you choose and why?
A. Be like a warrior. How I can be someone who is proper but also show a badass attitude. That is how I have my newest character for what is with my editor is all about.
Q.14 What is your favorite book from other authors and why?
A. My favorite books are Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. Both authors created worlds and races of people that surrounded these lands. Always kept me interested.
Q.15 How does your family/friends feel about your book or writing venture in general?
A. They support me and want me to continue.
Q.16 How do you develop your plots and characters? Do you use any set formula?
A. I just think about it, and then I map out a plot that makes sense.
Q.17 What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
A. If you have a story, then write it down. If you think it is interesting, then write it down.
Q.18 What is the most difficult thing about writing characters of the opposite sex?
A. It has not been hard for me. My first series is a male character, and it was a different but interesting experience.
Q.19 Who designed your book covers?
A. A dear friend of mine who is also an author.
Q.20 Share the experience of your journey so far?
A. I have had ups and downs. But Ella has over 100 reviews and keeps ongoing. Many have said it is impressive, and I want people to enjoy the stories I am telling.
