Interview with Zulma Reyo

Born in New York to Puerto Rican parents, Zulma is an educator, writer, and speaker who has developed and taught globally her life’s work.

Q.1 Tell us something about yourself not many people know?
A.
I’m pretty shy and a loner. Love being by myself. I am always connecting experiences and observations around me, looking into the nature of life and its composition. This is what led me to do the work I do, which is my ongoing life occupation. There is no such thing as personal or private life for me in this respect.

Q.2 Do you have any upcoming books?
A.
I’ve been writing “forever” and have many articles and e-books that I am now bringing together at the service of students and the public at large. All in process.

Q.3 When did you decide to publish the updated version of Inner Alchemy?
A.
As a result of lockdown and the current need, I sense today for a more profound knowledge of self and the perception of events from a greater perspective than immediate personal reality.

Q.4 How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite?
A.
Uff! So many in different languages! However, my favorite is one that I have just taken off the market and am in the process of updating, cutting, and reformulating, concentrating instead on a cosmological understanding of creation, including our material world. I love seeing the evolution from the perspective of universal history, particularly ancient history.

Q.5 If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
A.
“Understand that there are always two aspects/faces to things/people/events: the obvious, material facet, and the hidden, energetic causal dynamic. Don’t get trapped by the first, and don’t become deluded by the second.”

Q.6 The exercises you mentioned in the book Inner Alchemy, do you follow them in your daily life?
A.
Absolutely. Everything comes from my own experience.

Q.7 What are the three things a reader can expect from your books?
A.
Clarity. Transcendence. Practicality.

Q.8 As an individual, how much do you grow on a spiritual level? How was your life before you delved into this subject?
A.
The same. Spirituality is and has always been everything and everywhere in my experience. I do not divide people or activities into spiritual and non-spiritual. Spirit penetrates and pervades everything. All that is needed is for the human mind to be trained in perception and sensitivity. And… all that we call non-spiritual is human creation (i.e., thoughtforms and “vibes”).

Q.9 What were your feelings when your book was accepted/when you first saw the cover of the finished product?
A.
Ecstasy. I loved how the editorial team translated aesthetically what I hoped I had transmitted energetically and verbally.

Q.10 Why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre?
A.
No choice, really. It is who and what I am, have always been and what I live.

Q.11 Is there a difference between being religious and being spiritual?
A.
Leagues! Being religious is following rules and belonging to a club. Being spiritual is being alive and conscious, free and authentic. All religions were at some point “spiritual” and still are at the core. We need to do away with labels and divisions!

Q.12 Do you believe in writer’s block? If yes, how do you deal with it?
A.
Anxiety is the chief cause of writer’s block. That, and disconnection from the Self. The Self, not the little separated “I,” always has a lot to say!

Q.13 What makes your book stand out from the crowd?
A.
Truth, perhaps. And sensibility. The fact that I try to reach people through deep humane contact, often missing in our world.

Q.14 What is your favorite book from other authors and why?
A. Course in Miracles
, Agni Yoga books, Lucis Trust, and many books which are today off the market but may still be found in antiquarians. Don’t find much new in current books, although they do provide lots of technique. For me, truth is mainly in the ancients and in live transmission. A little treasure called The Red Lion by Maria Szepes, written several decades ago in Chech. Another is called Return of the Dove, and yet another is Brother of the Third Degree.

Q.15 How do your family/friends feel about your book or writing venture in general?
A.
Admiration, although not always understanding what I say!

Q.16 What would you share with folks who are skeptical of reading Non-Fiction?
A.
Feel and Know. Put aside the mind as the controller and interpreter of reality and discover a deeper reality.

Q.17 What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
A.
Follow your heart and do your thing! Write from your own experience and always share, share with others. There are people out there who are just like you! Do NOT follow trends.

Q.18 Which famous person, living or dead, would you like to meet and why?
A. Mme. Blavatsky
- the mother of modern esoterism, the first to attempt placing occultism in the practical world scenario, although she remains too complex for many. It is the job of those of us who follow to decode and transmit more tangibly.

Q.19 Who designed your book covers?
A.
Whitefox.

Q.20 Share the experience of your journey so far?
A.
Greater, wider, faster, and reaching more and more people each time.
